Privacy and your data

Your sales, customers and inventory are on your shop's own server. We don't run a server that holds them, and you don't need an account with us to use FreedomShop.

Where your data lives

FreedomShop keeps everything in a PostgreSQL database on the server you install it on. The register computers sign in to that server over the store's network. Back up the server regularly and keep a copy somewhere else, the same as you would with anything you can't afford to lose.

Card payments

FreedomShop records how each sale was paid. Card processing stays with your card processor and its own terminal.

When something goes over the internet

Running the register doesn't need any outside service. Opening the GitHub page to report a problem is up to you, and you choose what to write there.

You can check our work

FreedomShop is open source under the AGPL-3.0-or-later, so you, or someone you trust with this kind of thing, can read exactly how it handles your data.

This website

This site sets no cookies and has no analytics or tracking scripts. It uses your computer's own fonts and loads every file from this site, so opening a page doesn't tell any other company you were here.
